Imaging Technologies Sector

Image analysis sector is currently going through majors’ issues. In effect, acquiring a large quantity of two or three-dimensional data has become commonplace with the advent of new technology such as Micro-Computed Tomography, Phase contrast tomography, X Tomography, Focuses Ion Beam imaging.

Scientists, physicists, physicians are coping with heavy volumes, difficulties to analyze its as they must use supercomputing power. Limited by their softwares, hardwares, they must schedule, within their laboratories, their experiments, slowing them down into their researches and daily job.
Furthermore, visitors carrying out experiments into the latest researches departments such as in synchrotrons (ESRF, SLS, ALS, DLS, Spring8...), can’t study their full dataset at their office. In effect, they require high performance wokrstation to visualize and process their experiments while their IT equipment is limited to common computers . Hence, they apply partial data discarding method on their volumes (32 bits to 16 bits, 8 bits, lossy compression…) to bypass this critical barrier, resulting in a loss of significant information, processing errors and incomplete outcome.
